Overview

The Head of Planning oversees the planning team while collaborating with various cross functional partners to execute business strategies to meet and exceed sales and profitability goals within Shinola’s wholesale, retail and eCommerce channels.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously analyze business to capture current trends and recommend future actions that will maximize sales opportunity and minimize liability.
  • Review and validate merchandise plans, sales, receipts, transfers, gross margin, inventory peaks-and-valleys and inventory turns throughout pre-season and in-season.
  • Review and reconcile merchandise plans to financial plans comp-percent, comp-base, store openings/closures/remodels throughout pre-season and in-season.
  • Provides strategic and analytical reporting to drive achievement of sales plan, improved gross margin and key financial goals.
  • Works closely with the sales team and retailers to ensure all opportunity/liability is addressed.
  • Sets top line revenue targets and provides assortment planning guidance for seasonal buys to help ensure proper penetration by product category.
  • Maximize cross-functional team effectiveness; demonstrate ability to influence key decisions makers; build relationships through effective collaboration that contributes to a high performing team; participate as a solution-oriented team member.
  • Partners with account executives to ensure style level forecasts support retailer and corporate financial plans.
  • Makes additional recommendations to sales team to address corporate gaps and/or discrepancies.
  • Provide ongoing analysis and review using the OTB, works closely with sales team and finance to accurately forecast wholesale revenue and RTV’s.
  • Provide role clarity and specific action plans for skill and career growth for the planning and order management teams.
  • Train and coach talent to play to their strengths yielding retention and career opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in merchandise planning or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, advance degree a plus
  • Strategic forecasting for a multi-dimensional business
  • Experience in Luxury retail a plus
  • Strong leadership and management experience a must.
  • Excellent communicator and influencer.
  • Excellent attention to detail, follow-up, and organizational skills.
