Overview

The Print Producer is responsible for the planning, execution and management of print tactics for assigned projects. Includes retail tactics, brand collaterals, large format graphics, lookbooks, brochures, and journal print production. Candidate must have knowledge of paper stocks/usage, printing techniques (digital, offset – 4 color, letterpress, etc.) as well as what specific print models are best for the specific processes. Previous work with print vendors from the beginning quoting process to final job delivery is a huge plus.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Department Leads and Creative teams to define timelines, specifications and production parameters on specific projects.
  • Be a resource to the team during the creative process, providing technical support and guidance for specific executions.
  • Attend internal creative reviews, as needed, to gain understanding of project parameters and budgets.
  • Review concepts prior to client presentation to identify any production or timeline issues.
  • Review final approved layouts prior to execution.
  • Attend pre-production meetings, provide accurate print specs and ensure final files are accurate.
  • Create, update and manage print schedules with buy-in from internal team.
  • Prepare and maintain ballparks and final estimates on all print projects.
  • Manage the print production process to ensure projects come in on time, on budget, while maintaining high quality standards. Exceed company expectations.
  • Review all printer proofs with an eye for detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain a high level of efficiency find ways to improve process and share solutions.
  • Negotiate with internal departments to prioritize work to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Engage in contingency planning during all phases of a project. Anticipate bottlenecks and provide solutions.
  • Create ballpark and final estimates based on project parameters.
  • Solicit competitive quotes and select vendor most compatible with project.
  • Review and reconcile invoices.
  • Keep department leads and designers updated with changes to costs and budgets as projects progress.
  • Partner with department leads and designers to maintain files for quotes, reference materials, outside purchases and printed samples.
  • Partner with our purchasing team to maintain vendor database and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of solid print production, including large format, direct mail, collateral, catalog production and dimensional installations.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of paper stocks/usage, printing techniques (digital, offset – 4 color, letterpress, etc.) as well as what specific print models are best for the specific processes.
  • Previous work with print vendors from the beginning quoting process to final job delivery is a huge plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and/or work experience, with emphasis on graphic communications, design, advertising or print production management.
  • Strong knowledge of graphic design, the creative process, color separations, color proofing and printing.
  • Knowledge of paper stocks/usage, printing techniques (digital, offset – 4 color, letterpress, etc.) as well as what specific print models are best for the specific processes.
  • Previous work with print vendors from the beginning quoting process to final job delivery is a huge plus.
  • General knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong initiative, minimal supervision needed.
  • Self-motivated, and willing to push past comfort zone.
  • Works well with others. Consults / involves others as needed.

  • Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Desire to learn, be continually challenged and grow.
