Overview

As part of our cross functional Shinola Detroit HR team, this position will focus on leading and administrating our payroll function, providing active support and input with our benefits programs, while leading continuous improvements to HR systems and processes. This role is a great opportunity for personal and career growth and will provide exposure and experiences that can be gained in our fast paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes
  • Processing weekly and bi-weekly multi-state and international payroll and maintaining all functions of the payroll and HR software system, including time review, data entry and reporting.
  • Works closely the benefit specialist on health and welfare benefit program administration including open enrollment and education as needed and payroll interface requirements including ACA.
  • Works closely with the entire HR team to support a wide variety of HR initiatives programs and requirements
  • Stays current with federal and multi state regulations and develops policies and practices to insure consistent compliance
  • Supports and administers compensation and bonus systems and programs
  • Manages PTO, leaves and attendance systems
  • Develops reporting that supports business needs
  • Involved in the performance appraisal process, talent management and training programs

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of processing multi-state payroll and benefit experience
  • Experience with ADP Workforce now and or other HR payroll systems is a huge plus
  • Must be able to get along with diverse personalities and have the ability to foster strong relationships
  • Prior HR payroll experience in a multi-state manufacturing or retail environment is preferred
  • Must have strong project management skills and be highly organized and detail oriented
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of flexibility,
  • Have a strong affinity for finding a “new way to do it” and embrace the culture of the Shinola brand
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business is preferred
