  • Overview

    The Production Planning Manager plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials to meet production requirements.


    • Develops and maintains reports relating to process, product and operation on-time performance. Advises sales planners when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy.
    • Works daily on the continuous improvement of the production planning system (ERP/MRP) in support of business goals and system accuracy.
    • Works with the Factory Manager to ensure the planning and scheduling of orders fully utilizes the available labor to obtain efficient allocation of labor and on-time delivery of products.
    • Evaluates production statistics and their impact to the production schedule.  Reports major variances from plan and develops an action plan for managing issues as they arise.
    • Responsible for planning, releasing, monitoring, rescheduling, and updating of production orders.
    • Assist Engineering/Product Development in the design and verification of Bills of Materials.
    • Attend regular Operations meetings to develop priorities which are in line with Sales requirements.
    • Participate in the ECN/ECR process for necessary changes to structure or routing of product due to manufacturing requirements.
    • Work pro-actively with the manufacturing supervisors, procurement and other departments to ensure schedules are maintained.




    • Minimum five years' production planning, scheduling and material control experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain and/or /Business Operations,  APICS certification is preferred.
    • Ability to review and interpret concepts and to communicate necessary actions and requests clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
    • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP principles and materials management.
    • Extensive knowledge of Bill of Materials structures and routings.
    • Knowledge of Production and Purchasing functions in a Manufacturing Environment.
    • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, ability to handle high volume workload, and changing priorities in a high paced department.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, must have the ability to communicate at all levels and have great interpersonal skills.
    • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, BI and ERP systems.
